Meet Dr. Botterman
Dr. Kelsey Botterman is a naturopathic and chiropractic physician who practices evidence-informed, patient-centered care. She received her Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree in 2015 from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL. She completed her clinical internship at a non-profit Salvation Army clinic, providing care to Chicago’s underserved communities. Dr. Botterman went on to complete her Naturopathic Doctor (ND) degree in 2016, also at National University of Health Sciences. Her training in naturopathic medicine strengthened her skills in diagnosis, botanical medicine, and the broader determinants of health.
Dr. Botterman is a licensed chiropractic physician in the states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota, and a licensed naturopathic physician in the states of Wisconsin and Vermont. She also holds a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport (2018).
In addition to her formal education, Dr. Botterman has completed advanced training in acupuncture, McKenzie Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), and Functional Movement Technique (FMT). She is an active member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) and the Illinois Association of Naturopathic Physicians (ILANP).
Dr. Botterman has also served as a naturopathic clinician at her alma mater, where she worked with senior interns in their final year of clinical training, supporting the development of their diagnostic and patient care skills.
Dr. Botterman’s approach integrates natural therapies with current clinical evidence and a strong foundation in physiology. She values a balanced, collaborative model of care—using natural medicine where it is appropriate and effective, while recognizing the important role of conventional medicine in diagnostics, acute care, and complex conditions. When needed, she works alongside or refers to other healthcare providers to support comprehensive patient care.
She focuses on identifying the underlying contributors to illness and works with patients to develop thoughtful, individualized treatment plans that are realistic, sustainable, and grounded in evidence—not trends or one-size-fits-all approaches. She does not base treatment plans on unsupported or trending therapies without evidence of safety and effectiveness. Her practice is a good fit for individuals seeking a practical, science-informed approach to natural medicine.
Dr. Botterman lives in Crystal Lake with her husband, Nick, and their multiple pets. A lifelong resident of McHenry County, she grew up on a dairy farm in Huntley. Outside the office, she enjoys gardening, cooking, exercise, and art.
Meet Dr. Kehrmann
Dr. Sydney Kehrmann is a Naturopathic Doctor who practices through a holistic, individualized, and evidence-informed functional medicine approach. She believes that no two patients are alike and that healthcare should never be one-size-fits-all. Every treatment plan is thoughtfully tailored to each individual's unique history, lifestyle, environment, and health goals. By looking beyond symptoms and identifying the underlying causes of illness, Dr. Kehrmann helps patients restore balance, optimize wellness, and create lasting health.

Her philosophy centers on the belief that the body has an incredible capacity to heal when given the right support. Rather than simply masking symptoms, she works alongside her patients to uncover the root causes of illness through comprehensive evaluation, advanced laboratory testing when appropriate, and evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine. She incorporates nutrition, botanical medicine, targeted supplementation, lifestyle modification, and other natural therapies to support the body's innate healing processes. She believes that educating patients about their health is just as important as treating it, empowering them with the knowledge and tools they need to take an active role in their healing journey.

Her passion for natural medicine stems from her own personal health journey. After living with chronic pain for years, Dr. Kehrmann found herself repeatedly told that she would simply have to learn to live with her symptoms. Feeling defeated and without answers, she began exploring the healing potential of nutrition and natural medicine. Through addressing the root causes of her health concerns and supporting her body with personalized nutrition and natural therapies, she experienced a transformation that the conventional healthcare system had been unable to provide. That experience not only restored her own health but also inspired her lifelong mission to help others discover that healing is possible and that they deserve to feel heard, supported, and truly cared for. Her goal is to provide the compassionate, thorough care she once sought herself—listening closely, investigating deeply, and partnering with patients to help them regain hope and improve their quality of life.

Dr. Kehrmann earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Millikin University, graduating summa cum laude. She went on to receive her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from National University of Health Sciences, graduating as both summa cum laude and as class valedictorian. She is licensed as a Naturopathic Doctor in the state of Minnesota and is currently pursuing licensure in Wisconsin. In addition, she is completing her Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) credential and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) licensure in Illinois, further expanding her expertise in evidence-based nutrition and functional medicine.

Originally from Lake Zurich, Illinois, Dr. Kehrmann enjoys spending time outdoors, especially running through local forest preserves. She also loves cooking, listening to music, and spending quality time with her fiancé, Jake, as they plan their wedding and prepare to purchase their first home together in Woodstock. At home, she enjoys relaxing with her dog and two cats.

About Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic medicine focuses on the diagnosis and management of primary care concerns using evidence-informed natural therapies. These may include nutrition, lifestyle, and wellness counseling, botanical medicine, physical medicine, and other supportive treatments when appropriate.

Core principles of naturopathic care include identifying and addressing contributing factors to illness, supporting overall health and function, prevention, and patient education. Care is individualized and grounded in physiology, clinical reasoning, and the best available evidence.

Naturopathic doctors follow a therapeutic order, beginning with foundational, low-risk interventions—such as improving diet, sleep, and hydration—and progressing to more targeted therapies when clinically appropriate. Treatment recommendations are selected based on safety, effectiveness, and the needs of the individual patient, not trends.
Naturopathic physicians are also trained to recognize potential interactions among medications, herbs, and nutrients, and to collaborate with other healthcare providers when needed.

Educational requirements for naturopathic doctors include completing a four-year doctoral program at an accredited naturopathic medical school and passing comprehensive board examinations.
